Implant Retained Crowns: Jim
Description
Procedures: orthodontic movement, implant, two implant training crowns, whitening, two porcelain crowns, bite guard. This California/Connecticut business entrepreneur found our office on the web and presented with a childhood history of trauma to his two front teeth. Eventually he wound up with an implant and two crowns that he was never happy with. They never looked good and were continually breaking because his lower teeth were misaligned and hit the upper teeth too hard, and because of a severe grinding habit. He wanted a nice looking smile and a long lasting result. To have any chance of a long lasting result our orthodontist had to move the lower teeth into better position, our oral surgeon had to place a second implant. We used implant training crowns to encourage regrowth of gum tissue, and the patient had to wear a protective bite guard at night and eliminate the daytime grinding with habit cessation techniques. After whitening we placed the two permanent porcelain crowns. His treatment was a challenge with all his travel requirements, but he got a great result!
